Cape Beverage General Manager

Cape Beverage is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as General Manager. Recently separated from Cape May Brewing Company — one of the largest breweries in the state with over seven years of self-distribution experience — this new company will be distributing all of CMBC’s products as well as those of several other breweries looking to gain a foothold in New Jersey. This is a unique opportunity to join a new and innovative route to market for brewers.  


  • Manage overall operations, oversee sales, marketing, and supplier relations.
  • Manage ongoing projects, expansions, and maintenance of the facility
  • Develop and deliver an annual business plan for the marketplace on volume, distribution development, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs.)
  • Display focused and consistently enthusiastic guidance to the team to ensure performance objectives, customer quality, and delivery expectations
  • Establish Volume / KPI targets for each assigned direct report and appropriately manage the execution of these monthly KPIs. This includes, but is not limited to, feedback/coaching, corrective counseling, and performance reviews.
  • Lead by example to provide comprehensive knowledge of standard service protocol
  • Oversee, mentor and develop the Distribution Manager and Sales Manager
  • Consistently deliver a people-oriented style and demeanor
  • Maintain accounting and vendor booking
  • Submit administrative documentation such as sales reports and interdepartmental communications
  • Develop and execute key initiatives to drive revenue growth
  • Analyze, interpret, and act on daily, monthly, and annual financial reporting
  • Provide estimates for projects, completion, materials, supplies, and equipment needs to Executive team
  • Develop strategies and budgets to run operations at peak performance and minimum cost
  • Ensure that all sales, inventory and product quality control systems and reporting comply with local and state laws and regulations
  • Manage staffing needs and ensure the highest HR standards are met
  • Build company image by collaborating with customers, government, community organizations, and employees
  • Respond in a timely and professional manner to all inquiries and communications between the customers, employees, and executives
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
  • 10 years or more of beer distributor or equivalent industry experience preferred
  • 5 years of management experience preferred
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience with distribution software
  • Extensive beer knowledge
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to read and interpret financial statements, identify irregularities, and recognize cost-savings opportunities
  • Forward-thinking and creative individual who is committed to the brand success and is able to focus on the big picture while capably delegating to appropriate team members
  • Strong insight and ability to identify, assess, and manage risk
  • Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks while remaining flexible to a changing environment
  • Communicate effectively with the executive team to provide direct and clear feedback and positively influence others
  • A strong professional image and high ethical standards/integrity
  • Exceptional leadership skills
  • Must be adaptable and nimble
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using internal and external data sources
  • Outstanding organizational skills as demonstrated by your ability to set and handle multiple priorities
  • Working knowledge of warehouse and DSD operating systems/platforms preferred
