Accounting Manager

Job Title: Accounting Manager
Department:  Administration
Employment Classification:  Regular, Full-Time, Exempt
Reports to:  Chief Financial Officer

Job Summary:  As an Accounting Manager you are responsible for producing accurate and timely financial reports and statements and monitoring and analyzing accounting data.  

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example in upholding the Company’s Core Values and promoting a positive and constructive working environment
  • Prepare, review and analyze financial statements for accuracy and completeness
  • Assess current accounting practices and procedures and make recommendations for improvements
  • Understand and be capable of completing all general accounting functions, including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and taxes
  • Manage interface for inventory
  • Create journal entries for accruals, prepaids
  • Analyze current and past trends in key performance indicators including all areas of revenue, cost of sales, expenses and capital expenditures
  • Monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variances
  • Producing and analyzing quarterly and monthly financial reports 
  • Implement and work with a business intelligence tool and dashboard reports
  • Cost accounting for production/manufacturing environment
  • Develop standard costing for production
  • Support leadership team and department managers with in-depth analysis
  • Prepare presentations for leadership team
  • Other ad-hoc projects and analysis as requested 
  • Constantly strive for improvement by looking for ways to make things better, safer, faster or by reducing costs
  • Represent and promote Cape May Brewery in a positive manner to guests, local residents and the general public

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university in Accounting or Finance; MBA preferred
  • Five or more related years of experience in Accounting with continual growth in responsibility
  • Responsible for completing monthly close for a 2-year period
  • Strong leadership skills required. Experience in manufacturing/distribution concepts preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills, Access skills desirable
