Signature Flights

We’ve got a full board in the Tasting Room — with twenty-some taps and a different beer (and two sodas!) on each tap, it can be a little confusing when you peruse our overflowing menu. We have IPAs and stouts and porters and lagers and wheats galore, and, particularly for the uninitiated craft beer drinker, this can be disconcerting.

That’s the last thing we want. We don’t want beer to be work. Beer is what you do after work. Except for the guys in the brewhouse because beer is their work.

“For a lot of first-time visitors, having a full board is super intimidating,” says Retail General Manager Kaitlyn Smith. “So we wanted to customize our favorite beers into specific flights and take all the hard work out of it.”

So, Kaitlyn and the folks in the Tasting Room — in consultation with some of the guys in production — have devised four Signature Flights to take the guesswork out of ordering beers. We’ve been throwing around this idea for the past few months, and the Holidays seem like the perfect time to try them out.

Twelve Casks of Christmas

For the purposes of this blog, CMBC is your true love. (But you’ve always known that.) And, for Christmas — at least according to that song synonymous with rushing through the holidays — your true love gives you stuff.

A lot of stuff.

But what the hell are you supposed to do with twelve drummers? Where exactly is one supposed to find a lord in modern-day America, regardless of their leaping ability? And all those birds. Six geese a-laying is enough of a problem, but if your true love is repeating all of those gifts as the song suggests, you’re going to end up with 184 birds.

No one wants 184 birds. Instead, we’ll just get you beer.

Enter the Twelve Casks of Christmas!

Winter Wonderland at Congress Hall

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas because we’re walking in a Winter Wonderland.

These aren’t just beloved holiday lyrics, they’re the truth of what’s happening around the brewery for the Holidays. Things are looking a lot more holiday-ier, with the decorations and the hubbub and the joy. Oh, the joy!

And we’re walking in a Winter Wonderland… at Congress Hall! We’re part of their Winter Wonderland celebrations, and it’s helping to put us all in the holiday spirit.

Your Thanksgiving Meal

Gotta love Thanksgiving. Ostensibly, it’s a day to give thanks for the bounty with which we’ve been blessed, but, let’s face it, it’s a day for food. We don’t call it “Turkey Day” because we’re thankful for turkeys.

(No one is thankful for turkeys. They’re incredibly stupid birds.)

That’s why we had our Head Chef JP Thomas come up with a few recipes to make your Thanksgiving dinner a little more beery. Butternut Squash Soup with Apple Pie? Check! Cranberry Sauce and Stuffing with Cranberry Wheat with Orange? Check! Harvest Herb Turkey with Harvest Ale? Check! Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding with Boughs of Barley? Check!

Check out these recipes below for some inspiration for your holiday meal. If you end up giving any of these recipes a try, let us know what you thought in the comments!

Jazz and Brews

EZJFBeer and music go hand-in-hand. Gone are the days of rushing to Tower Records on Tuesdays for the latest release from your favorite band, yet the experience of dancing along at one of their concerts — cold (and overpriced) beer in hand — is one that’s not likely to fall by the wayside anytime soon.

Thankfully.

At Cape May Brewing Co., we’re going to do what we can to keep that experience alive. For the sixth year in a row, we’re the official beer sponsor of the Exit Zero Jazz Festival.

SpoooOOooooOOOoooky Halloween Bash!

For many of us, Halloween is a time for costumes and candy and pumpkins and fall colors and leaping into piles of leaves and the inauguration to all of the wonderful things about fall.

For the rest of us, we start stressing about finding a costume sometime in August, wait until the last minute, cut eye holes in a trash bag, and tell people we’re the ghost of Hugh Hefner.

Whether you’re Type A or Type B, Halloween is a time for fun — and ain’t no party like a CMBC party ‘cause a CMBC party has CMBC beer.

On Friday, October 27th, beginning at 5pm, we’ll have all of your Halloween needs covered, with a 90s twist!

Lady in Room #10

The Hotel Macomber is one of the most evocative structures in Cape May. Overlooking Beach Avenue, this grand shingle-style mansion was built at the turn of the century, and, in a land of Victorian excess, its conservative brown shingles assure that it stands out in a sea of pinks and blues and yellows.

But it’s not just its architecture that makes it noticeable.

It’s also one of the most haunted places in Cape May, the perfect home for the latest in our Barrel Aged Series, Lady in Room #10: a sour brown ale aged in red wine barrels for eighteen months on black currants and plums.

CMBC Sponsors TedxCapeMay for the Fourth Year

If someone needs for us to step up and Be a Good Neighbor, then we’re gonna do what we can to step up and Be a Good Neighbor. We can’t do it all the time — there are so many worthy organizations in the area that we’d love to help, but resources are limited.

Nonetheless, TEDxCapeMay is one that’s near and dear to our hearts.
