We’ve been truly lucky this year.

Three Great Awards!

Over the past week, we’ve been extraordinarily gratified to receive three very special awards.

The United States Coast Guard Community Foundation bestowed on us the Hometown Hero award, the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts and Humanities gave us a Community Partners Award, and the Garden State Culinary Arts Awards gave us the Beer Professional Award.

It was certainly a week to remember.

Hometown Hero Award

IMG_9737Over the past year or so, we’ve been in cahoots with the Coast Guard, developing, brewing, and getting Always Ready on the shelves.

In all honesty, it’s been a huge hit. It won Best Session IPA at the Atlantic City Beer and Music Festival and has been extraordinarily well-received.

We’re so thrilled that we could produce such an excellent product, and even more thrilled that we were able to do so in honor of such a worthy institution. The brave men and women of the Coast Guard keep our shores safe day after day — and, because of that, they definitely deserve a beer.

Beyond that, we simply love our Coasties! Each Coast Guard recruit spends eight weeks at the Training Center in Cape May, and they’re always our best customers. Each new unit comes to our Tasting Room every two weeks (the sessions overlap), and they make a point to let us know about their experience while based in Cape May.

“The Cape May County Coast Guard Community Foundation is excited to recognize Cape May Brewing Company as this year’s Hometown Hero. The award is presented to a community organization that goes above the call of duty to embrace the Coast Guard as part of the Cape May County community,” said Susan Hoffman, festival director, Cape May County Coast Guard Community Foundation. “One of their newest brews, Always Ready, is a perfect example of going above and beyond. The brewery worked closely for more than a year with Coast Guard leadership to develop just the right beer to salute those who are Semper Paratus.”

We’re lucky. We were so pleased we could honor the Coast Guard in such a way, and extraordinarily gratified that they’ve returned the favor with the Hometown Hero award.

Community Partners Award

We’ve got a strong partnership with MAC — the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts and Humanities. We’ve hosted pint nights in their honor, we’ve assisted with several Pop-Up Beer Gardens last summer, and we’re thrilled to be able to continue the partnership for years to come.

At a ceremony last week, they honored a number of area organizations and individuals who’ve assisted their mission in 2017.

Our Chief Celebrations Officer Randi Friel and Design and Social Media Alchemist Courtney Rosenberg were on hand to accept the award at an event attended by State Senator Jeff Van Drew, Assemblyman Bob Andrzejczak, Assemblyman Bruce Land, Cape May Mayor Clarence F. Lear III, and Cape May Chief of Police Anthony G. Marino, Jr., who was also honored.

“It was awesome to see the outpouring of respect and support from MAC and dignitaries for the volunteer. It was really a community event,” Randi said. “That’s what MAC does: they support the community and we support them.”

Garden State Culinary Arts Award

IMG-1795 (1)Last weekend, we were invited to Holmdel for the Garden State Culinary Arts Awards, and we were thrilled to be among the honorees!

Called “the Oscars of New Jersey food awards,” these prestigious awards recognize achievement, skill, talent, and excellence in the culinary arts in New Jersey, honoring the finest chefs, restaurants, farmers, food artisans, purveyors, and professionals in the wine, beer, and spirits sectors.

After a rigorous screening process — which sounds like a lot of good eatin’ — Ryan, Hank, and Mop Man made it through two rounds of voting to be named the Outstanding Beer Professionals, honoring their proven skills, talent, and significant positive effect on the industry.

We’ve been truly lucky this year, with a total of eleven awards given to us — and that’s only the first four months of the year. 2018 rolled in with a shocker of an award — the Best Beer of 2017 from BeerConnoisseur Magazine — and we’ve had outstanding honors since then.

However, we know we don’t achieve these things alone. It’s the love and support of you, our dedicated fans, that keep us striving to excel.

So, we certainly thank the organizations who have given us these awards, but we also thank you, our loyal fans.
