"They’re the best. We really do work well together, we’re a good team, and we have a lot of fun."

Our Events Team

Odds are, you’ve met these women. You’ve seen them out at our Tap Takeovers or at beer dinners or at any number of beer festivals throughout the region.

They’re our intrepid Events Team: Jenna Tesauro and Lauren Frech have been with us for a little over three years, and, since we’ve added a new member of the team — not coincidentally Jenna’s twin sister Danielle –, we figured it was time to introduce our fans to these wonderful ladies.

“I’d be lost without them,” says Events Coordinator Randi Friel. “They’re incredibly hard workers. They’re out in the field, rain or shine, running awesome tap takeovers and beer festivals, answering questions from new fans — all while getting our beer to flow through our sometimes-temperamental jockey boxes. They are perfect.”

And Randi’s not just trying to make them sound good — they really are amazing. However, if you’ve been to an event that features our beer, you probably already know that.

“I truly appreciate that everyone at CMBC is part of the Brew Crew and that an Events Team Member can come up with a beer and see it put into production.”

Refresh-zing

One of the great things about working at CMBC is that we’ve got a number of homebrewers around this place. From the Beertenders to the brewers, odds are that, at any given time, someone currently working has something fermenting at home.

So, when we decided to begin holding internal homebrew contests last year, it was no surprise that we had entrants from numerous departments throughout the brewery.

We’ve had four of these contests — the past three winners have been two brewers and a Beertender (who’s also won numerous awards as a homebrewer).

For the contest that produced this weekend’s release, Refresh-zing — a Belgian Saison with cayenne, turmeric, ginger, and coriander — we were thrilled to see a member of the Events team come through with the win. Jenna Tesauro — Associate Director of Academic Affairs and Advising at The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania by day, events rockstar by night — came through with the winning recipe this time around, and the beer blew us all away.

I’m glad for the opportunity to participate. -- Our Winner

Homebrewing Belgians

Last week, we had our fourth company-wide homebrewing competition. These competitions are a great chance for the homebrewers in our Crew — and as you might imagine, there are many — to let their recipes shine and get valuable feedback from everyone else at the brewery.

In addition, it gives us a wealth of recipes to choose from for future brews. Each previous winner has had their beer scaled up and released, and this time will be no different.

“It was hands-down the best homebrew competition yet,” said Innovation Director Brian Hink. “No one had any packaging issues, no one had any oxidation issues. Everyone brewed really good beer. I’d be happy to brew any of them here at CMBC.”

This time around, the guidelines were to brew something Belgian-inspired, and, as you’ll read below, some of our contestants took those guidelines very loosely.

...there’s a difference between getting a beer with “my colleagues, Batman and Robin” and getting a beer with “my colleagues, Batman, and Robin,” though either would be awesome....

Meet Jenna!

Our Events Team is one of the best in the business, but the very nature of their job means that we don’t get to see them very often. They’re out in the field, ensuring that revelers at our off-site events have as great a time as they possibly can while learning everything possible about our brews.

Case in point: Jenna Tesauro.

Jenna rocks. There’s really no other way to put it. She’s hilarious, she knows her beer, and she really knows how to get a Philly bar excited about a Tap Takeover.

When she’s not bringing all of her friends to some random bar in South Philly, she works in Academic Affairs at the Wharton School at UPenn. Swanky-swank. However, marshaling the future business leaders of America can make anyone need a cold beer after a long day.

Yet, her full-time jobby-job means that we get to see her far less frequently than we’d like. Thankfully, Jenna makes it down to the brewery for some of our major on-site events, but even that isn’t often enough.

And, frankly, we wouldn’t be terribly surprised to find out that she sometimes sends her twin sister, Danielle, because, aside from their hair length, they’re freaking identical.

At any rate, meet Jenna!
