Santa’s Beer

Santa’s got a rough job.

Not only does he have all of those elves to worry about — and elves can be mischievous –, but it’s his job to visit every single house on the planet. In twenty-four hours.

If anyone deserves a beer, it’s Santa.

Now, we don’t endorse sleigh-flying while imbibing, but, luckily, the reindeer are in charge. Rudolph is the one guiding the sleigh, and his eight buddies are the ones driving. Santa’s simply along for the ride, jumping out at each house to tumble down their chimney.

We’d imagine that he’d love to have a beer waiting for him, rather than the traditional milk and cookies. Santa doesn’t need more cookies. He needs a Cape May IPA.

So, this year, we hit up the Brew Crew with a question:

If you were Santa, which Cape May Brewing Company beer would you like to find waiting for you at the bottom of each chimney?

Check out their responses below!

Ryan Krill, Da Big Boss

Which beer would you like to see waiting for you if you were Santa Claus? Cape May IPA

Why? It’s my go-to! It’s the kind of beer that you can sip all day (or night).

Mark Graves, Packaging Manager

Which beer would you like to see waiting for you if you were Santa Claus? Mexican Coffee Stout

Why? Quite warming on a cold night and full of flavor to treat the man that does nothing but give. Coffee, spices, and that subtle hint of chili…yum! Like a nice hot chocolate to warm up to by the fire.

Evan Kostka, Sales Manager

Which beer would you like to see waiting for you if you were Santa Claus? Honey Porter Nitro

Why? Warm and comforting, but also eaaaaasy drinking!

Brian Hink, Innovation Director

Which beer would you like to see waiting for you if you were Santa Claus? Last Hurrah

Why? If I’m going to be flying around on a magical sled all over the world with flying reindeer all day, breaking into people’s houses and giving away a crazy number of gifts which cost an incalculable amount of money and eating an obscene amount of cookies and constantly dodging an emerging sun and potentially getting yelled at by a bunch of curious/confused dogs and risking walking into some strange situations (imaging going down the chimney to the house of Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs?!? Or down a chimney to a mob meeting?! Or the scene from Pulp Fiction with the cop and Bruce Willis and Ving Rhames?!? Or an interrogation chamber?! Man, Santa musta seen some messed up shit in his days…), I might as well get as much mileage as possible from that one beer.

Jenna Tesauro, Events Team

Which beer would you like to see waiting for you if you were Santa Claus? Always Ready

Why? Easy: Always Ready is thirst-quenching but with lots of flavor and juiciness from the hops, and is probably a more responsible beer than some of the delicious hop bombs we brew. From what I understand, Santa’s gotta drive that sleigh…

Mitchell Freeman, Packaging Operator

Which beer would you like to see waiting for you if you were Santa Claus? Always Ready

Why? It only makes sense that Santa has an Always Ready waiting for him under the tree at the last house he hits as an homage to all the work he did that year and for being ready every Dec. 25.

Rich Schmidt, Tasting Room Supervisor

Which beer would you like to see waiting for you if you were Santa Claus? Boughs of Barley 2019: Bourbon

Why? Well, it’s simple…a big ABV with that bourbon bite would help with those late December cold nights.

Kaitlyn Smith, Brewtique Manager

Which beer would you like to see waiting for you if you were Santa Claus? Merry & Brite

Why? The name kind of says it all, but this beer is simply delicious. You can’t help but be in the holiday spirit while sipping it. I bet Santa would enjoy it even more if it were served in a bangin’ new Fizz the Season glass!

Mary DiLazzaro, Brand Ambassador

Which beer would you like to see waiting for you if you were Santa Claus? Coastal Evacuation

Why? Super smooth double IPA. It goes down easy and well balanced. Even the non-IPA ers enjoy the flavor the brew creates on the palette.

Danielle Brasch, Tasting Room Supervisor

Which beer would you like to see waiting for you if you were Santa Claus? King Porter Stomp

Why? Goes great with the chocolate chip cookies.

Michael Laferrera, Sales Manager

Which beer would you like to see waiting for you if you were Santa Claus? Always Ready

Why? Always Ready because Santa Claus is Always Ready! He’s on the move all night.

Chris Costello, Tasting Room General Manager

Which beer would you like to see waiting for you if you were Santa Claus? Boughs of Barley 2019: Bourbon

Why? Boughs of Barley is a special beer that needs to be enjoyed on special occasions, and what is more special than completing Christmas Eve? I also love my bourbon, so it’s a happy medium of the two, and it won’t be around long!

Courtney Rosenberg, Social Media and Design Alchemist

Which beer would you like to see waiting for you if you were Santa Claus? Coquito

Why? It’s the perfect cocktail-inspired brew for Santa to sip on before he moves on to the next stop on his route.

Eric Wormann, Sales Manager

Which beer would you like to see waiting for you if you were Santa Claus? Mexican Coffee Stout

Why? If I’m staying up all night I need something with coffee in it. And I want a 64oz growler, not a 32oz.

Mary Braccili, Guest Guru

Which beer would you like to see waiting for you if you were Santa Claus? Mexican Coffee Stout

Why? It goes with cookies, of course! And everyone knows that you’re to leave some cookies for the jolly ol’ fat man! The cinnamon and vanilla of the Mexican Coffee Stout feels a little more festive for a Christmas Eve road trip and hopefully provides a little boost of caffeine for the long night ahead.

Jenna Rae Rohana, Sales Assistant

Which beer would you like to see waiting for you if you were Santa Claus? Swinging the Lamp

Why? I think Santa Paws (yes, that is who comes to my house), would enjoy Swinging the Lamp because it is juicy, full of fruity flavor, and, at 8% ABV, a great pick-me-up! This will give Santa just enough juice to make it around the world in 24 hours.

Andrea Sharp, Administrative Assistant

Which beer would you like to see waiting for you if you were Santa Claus? King Porter Stomp

Why? Reminds me of Christmas and the taste of chocolate would make cookies taste that much better.

Tom LoBianco, Sales Manager

Which beer would you like to see waiting for you if you were Santa Claus? Always Ready

Why? If I absolutely HAD to see EVERY house and there are beers at each house, I have to go with Always Ready. Light, low ABV, crushable. Although, someone’s still going to end up with the wrong presents by the end of the night!
