Down to Fiesta is Here!
Sweet. Spicy. Sexy. Is that you… or is that our new pineapple jalapeño margarita-inspired hard seltzer?
If you ask us, it’s probably both. But this isn’t about you! It’s about our newest release, Down to Fiesta.
Overflowing with sweet and tart notes of pineapple, a zesty aroma of jalapeños, and freshly-squeezed lime, Down to Fiesta is the perfect, refreshing drink for both margarita and seltzer fans alike.
And it’s only available in the Brewtique starting this Friday, April 30!
When we first launched seltzers in the Tasting Room, they were a big hit. So much so that we scaled up four flavors, put them in a variety pack, and started distributing Cape May Craft Hard Seltzer throughout NJ, Eastern PA, and Delaware earlier this year.
Little did you know, that’s not all we had in store: we were already planning the next Tasting Room-exclusive flavor that our seltzer fans would love.
And THIS. IS. IT.
But this isn’t the first time a pineapple jalapeño seltzer has graced the Tasting Room. It all started in late 2019 when two brewers were brainstorming ideas for the next best seltzer.
“Before COVID, we’d make a single keg of something fun for the Tasting Room every week for One-Off Wednesdays,” says Production Planning and Special Projects Manager Brian Hink. “We thought it would be fun to play around with different seltzer combinations, and with JP being our resident heat fan, we wanted to do a spicy seltzer. So we came up with a Pineapple Jalapeño seltzer that was – to my surprise, anyway – delicious.”
Needless to say, it went extremely well – that one keg kicked in a day.
“So I knew JP was onto something,” says Brian, “and we used that as a starting point when it came time to plan the Tasting Room only releases for this summer.”
The rest of the team – Tasting Room General Manager Chris Costello and Social Media and Design Alchemist Courtney Rosenberg – are both self-proclaimed margarita kinda people, so they were all about the idea of a margarita-inspired seltzer.
But we had to know: with so many margarita options out there, why this flavor?
“Margarita was an easy choice, but it was just a little too easy,” says Tasting Room General Manager Chris Costello. “I had enjoyed a few margaritas at the new Taco Caballito Tequileria in Cape May and one of my favorites was their spicy margarita – the pineapple and jalapeño flavors really complement each other.”
If you’re unlike Chris and you’ve never had a spicy margarita, be warned… you are not prepared for the fantastic journey ahead of you.
“It’s not your ordinary lime-flavored margarita,” says Courtney. “The smell of jalapeño hits your nose once you open the can, followed by a sweet pineapple flavor after the first sip. Prepare your tastebuds for a wild ride.”
And this is a wild ride we can totally get behind!
Even if you’re not necessarily a margarita fan, this is still a seltzer you’re gonna wanna get your hands on.
“It’s a very approachable seltzer – it tastes very fresh, and it’s so refreshing!” says Chris. “The jalapeño adds a really nice aroma to the seltzer, but it doesn’t add too much spice when you’re drinking it.”
Woah, woah, woah… let’s go back for a second. We haven’t talked about how spicy this seltzer actually is.
“The aroma is very zesty – when you first crack the can it’s intensely jalapeño-filled, but the spice is very gentle,” says Brian, who, if you remember correctly, was hesitant when JP pitched this to him until he found out spicy seltzers are delicious.
“You definitely get much more of the jalapeño aroma than the flavor – the flavor is all about bright pineapple with a gentle tartness rounding everything out.”
Okay… spicy aroma from the jalapeños, a bright, sweet-tart candied pineapple flavor, then a fresh and inviting finish thanks to the salt and the lime. Got it!
“The pineapple really pulls through, working very nicely with the margarita flavor,” says Chris. “I think our fans will love it because we are taking this opportunity to flex our seltzer muscle and step into some more adventurous flavors.”
Speaking of more adventurous flavors… should we expect more seltzers in the future? That’s an idea that Courtney can get behind.

For now, we’re still going to focus on Down to Fiesta and how to celebrate accordingly.
Some people may enjoy this seltzer poured into a glass with a salted rim and paired with tacos and nachos galore. But for anyone in the Cape May area this weekend, there is no better way to celebrate – err, seltzerbrate – Down to Fiesta and the release of The Grove (we know you’ve been waiting for this one!) than with a Floral Fiesta Friday!
The party takes place this Friday, April 30 from noon to 7pm, so break out your favorite Hawaiian shirt and join us for an afternoon of fun.
“There will be live music with Ben Stone and Dan Barry from 3:30 to 6:30, leis for all guests, and we’re decking out the Tasting Room with tropical decorations,” says Chris. “Plus, we’ll be featuring a Tan Limes margarita recipe, so you won’t want to miss it!”
It’s going to be an incredible time for you and your tastebuds. Get ready to fiesta!
